NIH Public Access Policy

(from the MLA Focus)

The National Institutes of Health submitted its Report on the NIH Public Access Policy (PDF) to Congress. The report shows that less than 4% of NIH-funded manuscripts have been deposited into PubMed Central since the policy was implemented on May 2, 2005. NIH supports the NIH Public Access Working Group's recommendations that, for the policy to be effective, it must be mandatory and the embargo period should be no longer than six months.
